HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

Hi there and happy Monday! As I type this, I’m sitting outside enjoying the first non-rainy, non-humid day in at least a week, so from this view, Monday is looking might fine to me!
Saturday brought some home improvement projects. I’ve been wanting to hang curtains in my living room for the longest time, and finally got around to it last week. I got one bracket hung – straight and even – I was so proud of myself! But as soon as I drilled in the screw for the second bracket, I hit either concrete or metal and the screw wouldn’t go further than halfway in. Womp womp.
I went to Home Depot for shorter screws so I could try to salvage this home improvement project. I was able to hang that bracket somewhat successfully, just to realize the rod was so long it was drooping in the middle and I needed to hang a third bracket. The third bracket… oy. The concrete or metal was even closer this time, so even the shortest screws and anchors I bought weren’t short enough. And when trying to hammer in the anchor, I missed, hit the wall, and now have hammer head sized dents in the wall. The good news is I’m nearsighted, so I can’t even really tell it’s there! haha The bad news is, unless my guests are also nearsighted, it will totally be noticeable!
The curtain rod is technically hung, but I decided to pack up my independent woman stubbornness and call in the big guns: my dad. Dad knows how to fix anything and everything! This story is to be continued…
On a happier note, I did walk away from my home improvement adventures with three new plant babies for my patio!
Sunday I had three family sessions! First up was a session I was very much looking forward to! You may remember Ashley and Antonio from their engagement –
Wedding (and today is their two year anniversary!! Happy wedding anniversary Ashley and Antonio!!) –
and maternity sessions –
Well, Ashley’s aunt, Eilene:
gifted her sister (Ashley’s mom) with a gift certificate for her birthday so they could commemorate four generations of women in their family: Ashley’s grandmother, her mother, herself, and her daughter, Peyton. What a happy occasion this was and such an honor to get to photograph them all together at Watkins Park!
From there I made my way back to Arlington to capture photos for my friend Grace’s sister’s family. Grace gave Jess a gift card for family photography for her birthday too!
My final session of the day was rained out, so I came back home to upload photos, enjoy some time outside on the patio, and even went on a run because the weather was so nice! That was the perfect cap to my weekend!
Have a great week!!
