HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
What a joy to be back in the swing of things!! I kicked off the 2021 wedding season with Vicki and Alex’s vibrant spring Tranquility Farm wedding in Purcellville (Loudoun County), Virginia, this weekend and am so excited to share their images today.
Vibrance Squared
You may remember Vicki and Alex from their Supreme Court engagement photos last spring (I mean, how could you forget that gorgeous, vibrant dress?!). Vicki and Alex reserved their wedding date with me last winter (2020) – what feels like forever ago, and it was exciting when their big day finally arrived this weekend!
After seeing that vibrant dress Vicki wore for her engagement session, it didn’t surprise me that she would plan a vibrant spring Tranquility Farm wedding. She worked with Diamond Events to design a colorful wedding full of vibrance, shine, and beautifully complementing shades and hues that really has their wedding popping off the page! After hearing her best friends’ maids of honor speech at the reception, it makes sense Vicki would choose such lively colors: Vicki is a light in so many of her close ones’ lives and they had the absolute sweetest things to say about her.
Bridesmaids Reveal
My favorite part of Vicki and Alex’s vibrant spring Tranquility Farm wedding is a tie between Vicki’s bridesmaids reaction to seeing her in her wedding dress and veil, and hearing the toasts from their friends, and especially Alex’s Russian grandmother, at the reception. As a wedding photographer, you get to know a few sides of the people you photograph, but it’s so cool to learn about them through their loved ones’ words during toasts. Vicki and Alex are a much beloved sort of linchpin couple in their families and social circle, bringing people together in numerous ways. What a beautiful thing to celebrate with their vibrant spring Tranquility Farm wedding.
Weather Small Talk
I have to share a little about the day we had as far as weather (I feel like I’m always talking about weather at weddings and at photo sessions in general; such a cliche to make small talk, but truly – weather is a HUGE part of natural light photography, so it takes up a lot of mental space! haha). I pulled up to Tranquility Farm in a lovely spring shower. I waited in my car until it passed and then started the day as the sun quickly popped back out. Little did I know, I would be doing that all.day.long: being excited for sun, then ducking under a tree to wait out a shower, then quickly coming back out to take advantage of the break in the rain. That must’ve happened five or so times during portraits! Luckily the sun was shining bright for Vicki and Alex’s vibrant spring Tranquility Farm wedding ceremony and stayed that way for the rest of the night!
Northern Virginia Wedding Venues
Last, I want to give props to one of my favorite wedding venues! I absolutely love photographing weddings at Tranquility Farm, and I’m so glad Vicki and Alex found me for their wedding day. The venue has so many beautiful spots to host all the events of a wedding day, and I was marveling at how each time I’m there I’ve seen a different set up. As a photographer, that keeps things interesting and fun. There’s so much creativity inspired when I’m there. They do such a great job of making it a fun, versatile, and picturesque venue for their couples, as well as their friends and families, and of course, us vendors.
And with that, I’ll wish congratulations and best wishes to Vicki and Alex, as well as a safe, healthy, and fun trip to Hawaii for their honeymoon!
What a stunning bride you are, Vicki!
Obsessed with these bridesmaids dress colors and Rashid was the *best* bride’s-man ever!
