Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today I’m excited to share some of my favorite photos from Emily and Sam’s Winery at Bull Run summer wedding in Centreville, Virginia.
I’m sure you remember Emily and Sam’s Georgetown waterfront engagement session from last summer. These two are pure gold in front of the camera! I was excited to see and work with them again for their Winery at Bull Run summer wedding. Emily and Sam have a lot of fun memories at this winery. Plus they were excited to work with the super organized team at the winery. It all made the day that much more meaningful for these two love birds!
We started the day at Emily’s aunt’s beautiful home in Vienna. When I showed up, the bride and bridesmaids’ hair and makeup was already done! Y’all, that almost never happens! Their hair and makeup team were on point! It created lots of opportunity for Emily to enjoy quality time with her friends and family before leaving for the venue. Spending time with their loved ones was top priority for Emily and Sam on their big day, so I loved to see it worked out that way!
Emily and Sam’s Winery at Bull Run summer wedding took place on one hot July Saturday! The weather lately has been very D.C. summer, with a mix of dark clouds and sun every day. And it’s hard to trust the forecast because it will say it’s going to rain, but sometimes it doesn’t. And when it does, it’s usually a full on storm. On Emily and Sam’s big day, we got it all! When we arrived, the sun was shining, it was 90+ degrees, and 70% humidity. Thank goodness for the shade provided by some tall trees! We were able to do their first look and the majority of their portraits while (mostly) keeping our cool.
Y’all know I am a big proponent of the ‘first look’, and Emily and Sam + their wedding day hit on every reason why I love them. First, Emily received a message from a go-between that Sam was excited to do the first look because he missed Emily. He hadn’t seen her all day of course, and wanted to see her already! That let me know a first look was a great idea for these two. They were going to get to spend the majority of their big day together!
Plus, I love seeing the honest, unbridled reactions when a couple sees each other for the first time! Sam’s reaction was so sweet! And Emily was so excited to show off her outfit. And finally, it started raining immediately after the ceremony. All I could think was, thank goodness we got all of their newlywed portraits done before the ceremony!
My favorite part of Emily and Sam’s Winery at Bull Run summer wedding was their ceremony! The songs their family and wedding party walked down the aisle to  were so fun – including Take It to Da House by Trick Daddy, and Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. The real kicker was Emily was walked down the aisle by her dad to Simply the Best by The Hound & the Fox, and then Emily and Sam’s recessional song was The Best by Tina Turner. Cue.All.The.Tears. Those lyrics get me every time!
Emily’s long time best friend and pastor, Kara, performed the marriage ceremony. And Emily and Sam’s vows were absolute tear jerkers! We got a little glimpse into their life together, and a big glimpse into how much they love each other. The icing on the cake was the clap of thunder that boomed just as they kissed! And the rain held off until they were safely inside. Well done, Mother Nature!
Sending big congratulations and best wishes to Emily and Sam!
