It’s time to celebrate Becca and Matt’s romantic Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding in Washington, D.C., with some my fav images from their big day!
D.C. Destination Wedding
Becca and Matt live in Texas, and decided to get married in Washington, D.C., as a destination wedding in a place where Matt has a connection. He sometimes comes to the city for work, and previously lived in the area, so it seemed like a natural fit. They loved the intimate feel of the Ritz Carlton, plus are fans of the modern industrial look of the building (it is very cool!). So they decided on a romantic Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding before Matt’s son moves out of the country in a couple months.
Engagement Session First
Since Becca and Matt are from Texas, we did their engagement session once they got to town the week of their wedding. That was a first for me, and I have to say – it was pretty cool! Matt has fond memories of going on runs along the Potomac and ending up in Old Town for a cool-down walk. So they chose to do their engagement session there. We got to know each other and they got to practice in front of the camera so they were ready for their wedding portraits a few days later.
Pre-Ceremony Fun
And then poof! Before we knew it, it was the day of their romantic Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding. One of my favorite parts of a wedding day is spending time in the getting ready suite while everyone is together and getting excited for the day. Becca and Matt didn’t have an official wedding party, but they still enjoyed time with their close friends and family as they got ready. Becca’s friends spent the morning doing their nails, laughing, and helping Becca in whatever way they could.
Becca decided to include three ‘first looks’ – one with her friends, one with her dad, and one with Matt. To save all of us from the heat and humidity that accompanies a D.C. summer day, we decided to do all three in the getting ready suite. (Becca requested this, but to let you in on a little secret: I was thankful! haha)
Portraits Priority
Becca and Matt made plenty of room in their timeline for portraits, which I was super excited about! The Ritz Carlton Georgetown is conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown. It’s easy to make your way to any number of picturesque spots for portraits: the waterfront, a nearby park, the canal, the cobblestone side streets. Since the day was so warm and sunny, we opted for some shady spots for pre-ceremony portraits, and saved some of the more quintessential Georgetown spots for after the ceremony when it was a bit cooler.
Favorite Things
The president of Matt’s company performed their marriage ceremony, and she did a great job! My fav part of the ceremony was their vows. They each repeated the same vows, but they weren’t your standard vows. They had a little extra intention and flare, unique to Becca and Matt. They definitely had us all tearing up!
My favorite part of Becca and Matt’s romantic Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding was their first dance! They took dance lessons and had a choreographed number to John Legend’s All of You. I got a little sneak peak during their engagement session, which was super fun! And they did an awesome job on the day of their wedding. They were so in sync and elegant, and worked in plenty of twirls, which always make for good photos!
Congratulations and best wishes to Becca and Matt!
