HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today we’re celebrating the marriage of Julia and Ilya with their shades of pink Dulany’s Overlook wedding in the hills of Frederick, Maryland.
You may remember Julia and Ilya from their Brawner Farm engagement session from last summer. We joked that day that their very hot and humid engagement session was preparing us for their August wedding. And that turned out to be mostly true! Julia and Ilya’s shades of pink Dulany’s Overlook wedding was a hot one at 95 degrees. But luckily we got a break from the humidity. Thank goodness!
I had never been to this area of Frederick and was delighted by how beautiful the scenery was surrounding the venue. There is so much land surrounding the manor house and reception barn, and the ceremony space is private and idyllic. These two love wide open spaces and after seeing their wedding venue, I understood more why they chose Brawner Farm for their engagement session.
Julia and Ilya’s shades of pink Dulany’s Overlook wedding was photographed by my associate photographer, Leah, so that I could properly tend to some health issues. I did show up at the beginning of the day to photograph the details photos. I like putting my own special touch on that portion of the day when able, and I had so much fun playing with all the special details Julia provided. When I finished, I did a little walk around the property to make some suggestions on where to do portraits. And then packed up and let Leah take it from there. And she did a great job with the rest of the day!
In looking through the photos, I could see how much both Julia and Ilya lit up when they finally got to see each other at the first look. The smiles on their faces from there on speaks volumes about how much these two love each other. While I wasn’t at the ceremony to hear their vows, I could see how many photos included tears and tissues! haha And I feel like those are the markers of poignant, heartfelt, meaningful vows.
One thing I appreciate about Julia and Ilya is how willing they were to make time for portraits in their timeline. Portrait time isn’t just about getting photos of the two of you – it’s also a built-in time for the newlyweds to enjoy each other without others around. Yes, there are photographers there, but no one else! It’s just about the two of you, and you get to hold hands and hug and kiss and be romantic! That’s what a wedding day is all about, right? Juli and Ilya made time for four sets of portraits throughout their shades of pink Dulany’s Overlook wedding! After the first look + after the ceremony + sunset + night time.
Congratulations and best wishes to Julia and Ilya! Pozdravlyaiu!
