Haley and Seth celebrated their first wedding anniversary this summer with not only a trip to D.C. (they’re from Ohio), but with National Mall anniversary photos!
Haley and Seth are actually photographers in Ohio (!!), so I was doubly honored they chose me to photograph their National Mall anniversary photos! Or, I guess I should say I was honored Haley chose me to photograph their anniversary session, because Seth knew nothing about it!
Haley and Seth traveled to D.C. with Haley’s parents for a week trip, and their first wedding anniversary happened to fall during that week. Haley, being the phenomenal wife that she is, booked this anniversary session as a surprise for her hubby! She didn’t tell him until the day of the session what they were doing. So fun!
The extra special connection Haley and Seth have to their National Mall anniversary photos is that they actually got engaged at the Lincoln Memorial! Haley was on a church/work trip and Seth coordinated with Haley’s friends to arrange for a tour of the Lincoln Memorial. Once Haley was in place, Seth surprised her with a proposal! He travelled all the way from Ohio to surprise her! He was only there for the day, so they didn’t have the chance to do a full photo shoot… until now! haha
The different thing about this session was that it didn’t take place during magic hour! {Gasp!} Haley wanted to do the session on their actual anniversary and I was already booked during both magic hours that day. So I chose a location that incorporated the spots that had meaning to them, that still evoked the D.C. vibe, and that had plenty of shade to hide us from the early evening sun. And bonus, had lots of tress so we could still get that gorgeous glow I love!
Happy one year anniversary to Haley and Seth! And cheers to many more!
