HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
Anna & Charles celebrated with friends and family on Friday as they said their ‘I do’s’ during their classic Capitol Hill wedding. They married at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Capitol Hill with a traditional Catholic mass before cruising back to Mason & Rook Hotel in Dupont Circle to dance & sing the night away with their loved ones.
From the moment I first spoke to Anna over the phone about her classic Capitol Hill wedding, I could hear the excitement in her voice about marrying her one true love. I felt that excitement again as I set foot into Anna’s bridal suite at Rook & Mason to see Anna in her gown with a huge smile on her face, looking like an actual princess bride! Anna was surrounded by her parents, sisters & bridesmaids, friends, and her adorable flower girl and the joy & excitement in the room was just overflowing!
As we rode to the ceremony, Anna filled me in on her & Charles’ super romantic post-nuptial plans to return to the town where they first met & have dinner at the same restaurant where they had their first date! How sweet is that? From there they’re jetting off to Europe to enjoy their honeymoon. Sounds like a great idea to me!
The ceremony mass ended just in time for us to hop in the waiting SUV & zip off to the Capitol building for bride & groom portraits before the rain started. From the Capitol we were whisked over to the D.C. War Memorial where Anna told me, “We’re going to go in there and dance, because that’s what we always do here.” Yes please! I love capturing authentic joyful moments & I don’t think it gets more joyful or authentic than two love birds dancing together inside a D.C. memorial… as they apparently do all the time! Swoon!
As if that wasn’t romantic enough, my favorite part of the evening was Charles’ speech to his bride at the reception, when he read her a love poem by T.S. Eliot, A Dedication to My Wife. It doesn’t get sweeter or more touching than that!
Congratulations to Anna & Charles! I wish you many more years of leaping delight. Enjoy your honeymoon!
Special shout out to Erin of Erin Tetterton Photography as my second photographer for this wedding.
And to Gloria of Gloria Avina Photography for that one Photoshop edit! Bicyclists have no place in wedding photos! 😉
