Welcome to the second post in my series on wedding photography planning! Last week I told you how coordinating with your photographer to plan your wedding timeline will help get those amazing wedding photos you’ve been dreaming of, and today I’m sharing how thoughtfully choosing your perfect wedding photography package will help get those photos as well.
So you’ve chosen your wedding photographer and you’ve asked him/her (or me!) to coordinate with you to plan your timeline. This should naturally lead to a discussion on what photography package you & your fiance will be booking. The perfect wedding photography package will obviously vary by couple, but putting thoughtful time and energy into making this choice will go a long way in attaining those amazing wedding photos you want!
Photographer’s offer different things within their wedding photography packages and they usually vary by price. Everyone needs to have a budget, but at the end of the day make sure to consider what is going to bring you and your fiance joy when you receive your finished product(s). Here are some questions to ask yourself and my suggestions on how to make sure you’re booking the perfect wedding photography package for you as a couple:
On the day you receive your wedding photos, are you going to want to see images from the very beginning of your day when you’re at the salon getting your hair done until the last drop of prosecco is finished? If that’s a heck yeah!, then you probably need ten or more hours of coverage.
Are you happy with seeing your & your fiance’s ‘getting ready’ photos through to the reception exit? If that works for you, then you’re probably good with eight hours of coverage.
Do you want multiple angles captured to thoroughly document your special moments? If so, then you’re going to want a second photographer.
Do you want to be able to flip through prints of your images? Yes? Then you’ll want to include a photo album in your perfect wedding photography package.
Do you want to feel at ease on your wedding day having your photo taken? Then you’ll want to make sure to book an engagement session with your wedding photographer. (More on that next week!)
As a wedding photographer, I want to be sure my clients are satisfied with what they get at the end of our time working together. That’s why this list is a great place to start with choosing your perfect wedding photography package! You’ll be making sure you’re satisfied before you even set foot in front of a camera!
