HI, I'M RACHEL!

I learn this lesson more and more as time passes: if someone tells me they aren’t great at having their photo taken, the opposite tends to be true! Such was the case with Cecilia and Steven’s C&O Canal engagement photos this past weekend in Potomac, Maryland. Cecilia and Steven were such naturals in front of the camera – and not because they are experienced with having their picture taken, but because they are clearly so in love and excited to get married!
Cecilia and Steven met at a church retreat and fell in love at college in Indiana – they’re college sweethearts! And this winter they’ll be taking their sweetheart status to the next level with their January nuptials in Maryland! (Can’t wait!) It was so sweet to see how they doted on each other throughout their session and how they naturally ended up hugging or snuggling without me even having to tell them to!
I was exciting to go location scouting for the perfect location for what ended up being Cecilia and Steven’s C&O Canal engagement photos because they wanted to do their session in the Potomac/Rockville area, two places I’m not super familiar with photography wise. You know me, I love a good challenge, so I set out one night last week and ended up finding two spots for them to choose from. I was secretly hoping they would choose this spot near Old Angler’s Inn because it was absolutely beautiful!
Sure enough Cecilia and Steven chose this pathway along the C&O Canal because they love going on walks together, they love nature, and Steven especially loves rocks and bridges, so as you’ll see – this was the perfect spot for these two love birds!
I have to give major props to Cecilia and Steven because we added a little extra adventure to their session by having them change clothes in the woods! I feel like you’re not truly settled into your engagement until you’re changing outfits in an awkward location at your engagement session! Haha!
Thanks to Cecilia and Steven for being troopers walking so far at our session and being up for all that I suggested! I’m so looking forward to seeing you again at your wedding in January!
