Cecilia and Steven are married y’all! They said their I Do’s this past Saturday on 1.19.19 at their classic winter wedding in Maryland and we got to go to three different locations to celebrate their big day!
You may remember Cecilia and Steven from their C&O Canal engagement photos over the summer (see those here), and if you do remember that, then you’ll understand why I was so excited for their classic winter wedding in Maryland this past weekend! Cecilia and Steven were clearly so in love and excited to get married, and you guys – those are the kind of couples I love, love, love to photograph!
When I spoke to Cecilia and Steven back over the summer, they were kind of hoping for snow during their classic winter wedding in Maryland. And yeah, if you’re planning a winter wedding, it makes sense you’d be excited to have some extra winter ambiance on your wedding day. Lo and behold, they kind of got their wish! The weekend before their wedding, we got about six to eight inches of snow in the D.C. area and luckily it stayed cold enough all week to preserve the snow covered look on most surfaces! Woot woot! It was exciting to have that extra layer of magic added to all the outdoor photos!
One of the sweetest things about Cecilia and Steven’s wedding day was that they were married at the church the two of them attend together on a regular basis – Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park, Maryland. And wait, it doesn’t end there: Cecilia’s uncle was the priest who married them! He performed a beautiful, personalized ceremony for these two love birds that I’m sure they and their families will always remember.
There were lots of favorite moments throughout Cecilia and Steven’s classic winter wedding in Maryland, and I think one that makes the top of the list was the rings exchange. Steven was *so* excited and after they sat down, they were each checking out their new jewelry. So glad they have photos of those moments – they were so sweet!
After the ceremony, the wedding party, bride and groom, and I headed to Glenview Mansion for some natural light portraits. The weather held out until right at the end of the wedding party portraits, and Cecilia and Steven were great sports as they hung in there in the cold and drizzle for their newlywed portraits. I don’t know how they did it, but I’m glad they did because I really love the portraits we were able to capture before the skies really opened up!
I can’t end this post without mentioning at least one more favorite moment from C & S’s reception! Steven and his mother danced to a song that was written (I think) and recorded by his mom! That was a first for me – I’ve never seen that before and it was so touching to witness and capture.
Best wishes and congratulations to Cecilia and Steven! Enjoy your honeymoon and your forever!
Thanks to the vendor team who made Cecilia and Steven’s day so beautiful!
