Happy Monday! How was everyone’s snow day this weekend? If you live in the DC/MD/VA area, you likely had some snow on Saturday. I’m not a fan of snow before Christmas because I like to enjoy every last bit of fall I can get a hold of, but I have to admit – it was beautiful!
I kicked off the weekend by attending a cookie decorating contest (you read that right: cookie decorating contest) at my friend Wendy’s (of 1492 Communications) house. Every year she bakes 100 sugar cookies (from scratch!), makes colorful icing, and hosts her girlfriends who she enlists to decorate said cookies with a table full of sprinkles. She sends the finished products overseas to the troops as a little ‘thank you’ for their service. How sweet is that?! (Pun intended.) But before she packs away the cookies, she brings in a few fellas to judge them on how delicious they look and how pretty they are decorated. The winners are awarded little trophies and treats. It was so much fun and great to know our hard work will bring some joy to our troops overseas who are likely away from their families for the holidays.
Saturday I had plans to go to Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, MD, to explore their holiday wonderland of Christmas trees, toy trains, and twinkling lights. But when the snow started falling, I realized I’d rather cuddle up, watch some Netflix, and enjoy my snow day from the couch instead. Being that we just finished Stranger Things, we were in a mystery/sci fi kinda mood, so we started watching DARK. So far it’s really good!
Saturday night we were off to another holiday party, complete with ugly Christmas sweaters. It was so festive seeing everyone in holiday colors, sparkle, and silly sweaters and outfits. It brought a little ping of joy to look around the room to see that!
Sunday was all about photo shoots! First up was newborn baby Vir. Turns out, being a Christmas baby creates so much opportunity for fun props during your newborn session! Here’s a little sneak peek including two awesome props: a Christmas tree and Santa outfit!
Next up was a family you may recognize from their maternity session and newborn photos this past spring and summer. Look how big baby Owen has gotten!
And last, I took a family out to Jones Point Park. I was excited to shoot there after exploring the park last weekend, and it did not disappoint!
I hope everyone enjoyed their snow day this weekend and has a great week! Stay tuned for a couple more blog posts this week 🙂
