HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

I’m so grateful for the busy seasons – for obvious reasons, but even more so because they allow me to fully soak up and appreciate the not-so-busy seasons. I will say, I’m usually kind of grumpy during the holidays; they’re just not my favorite for various reasons. But this year I decided to totally be in the holiday spirit! After spending Thanksgiving weekend getting my house decorated for Christmas, I thought the Alexandria Christmas parade, or the Scottish Christmas Walk, would be the perfect way to continue the festivities!
After looking for a parking space for like 45 minutes (!!!), we finally found one! It was far away from the Alexandria Christmas parade route, but figured we all had working legs – we could stand to walk a little! By the time we made it to the area where the parade was supposed to be, we thought we’d missed it because it was already an hour after the start time. But to our surprise, the Alexandria Christmas parade was still going! We made our way through the crowds and found a front row spot right by the end of the parade route just in time to see the part I was waiting for: the Scotties and Westies in their kilts! OMG they were adorable! A few even came over to say hi to Milli!
After the parade we grabbed a bite to eat – outside! such an anomaly in December – at The Wharf. It was such a fun day in Old Town and to be sitting outside because there were so many adorable dogs! Everyone stopped by to say hi to Milli and we made sure to pet as many sweet pups as we could 🙂
From there we walked around the waterfront areas, stopped by the wharf, and then made our way back to the car . . . that was so.far.away. I was grateful for the exercise but so over the walking! haha We made our way over to Jones Point Park for sunset. I’d never been there before and it was so cool! I can’t wait to go back and do a photo session there! We walked from under the bridge over to the waterfront for sunset pics near the little boat house. You know how I love a sunset pic – I was in heaven!
I just love days like that day: wandering around, enjoying the weather, exploring, learning some local history, taking photos for my own enjoyment, and even planning great spots to take clients. I hope to have many more days like that in the near future!
Happy holiday season everyone!
