I’m excited to share with you these Alexandria branding session photos today!
This session is so special because the woman in them is fantastic, but also because of what she did to prepare for the session. She took all of my advice on how to prepare before her Alexandria branding session photos – from having her hair and makeup done to doing a color consultation to plan her outfits.
J is a recent transplant to D.C. and she was looking to have branding photos taken for her portfolio after graduating from design school. Like a lot of folks I work with, she expressed concern and hesitation about having her photo taken. I knew we would have a great time at the session, and still wanted her to feel her absolute best ahead of time, so I provided lots of guidance, as I do with all my clients.
J got her hair and makeup done the same day of her Alexandria branding session photos by my fav hair and makeup artist, Carla Pressley. And the even bigger way she treated herself was by meeting with Melany Carlos of House of Colour Arlington for a color consultation a couple weeks prior to our session.
Melany does this really cool thing (that I can’t wait to do myself!) where she meets with you for 2-3 hours, showing and teaching you how to find the colors of clothing, makeup, and accessories that are most flattering to your particular skin tone, hair color, etc. The colors you find will make you look younger, healthier, thinner, and ultimately provide you so much more confidence. (I have seen the before and after photos y’all and it’s shocking!)
I am not just saying this, you guys, I could really tell the difference in the outcome of the photos and even in just looking at J in person! The colors she was wearing complemented her so well, I could not get over it! Needless to say, J’s photos turned out brilliantly and she had more than enough to choose from for her portfolio.
And needless to say I will be doing lots more collaboration with Melany, so stay tuned!
Thanks to Carla Pressley (Hair and Makeup Artist) and Melany Carolos of House of Colour Arlington for helping J feel her best!!
