HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I must preface this post by saying you are not reading these details incorrectly – you’re not having flashbacks to the first week in April. In April I had the honor of photographing Josh’s surprise proposal to Naina at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, and this past Saturday I was honored again to capture St. Michaels proposal photos for Josh (a different Josh!) and Kelly! What a beautiful coincidence!
You guys know that I am a wedding photographer, so you would probably think I’ve immune to all the sweet things that go on at proposals and weddings. Oh, you’d be so wrong about that! When I read the story of how Kelly and Josh  started dating and how they had their first kiss, I pretty much melted into a puddle of tears.
Kelly and Josh met while they were both in Hawaii, working at different jobs. They met on the beach at sunset, became friends, and from there spent a few weeks doing Hawaii things like hiking and snorkeling. It was on the 4th of July, while watching fireworks, that their friendship turned to something more, and they shared their first kiss on a jetty leading out into the ocean. Does it get more romantic than that?!
That’s why it was so fitting that Josh propose to the love of his life on the waterfront. He found the perfect secluded makeshift jetty (a small, secluded pier)at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels to recreate the moment their lives together began. It was there that he got down on one knee and asked Kelly to be his wife. He even brought a portable speaker with him so he could have sweet music playing in the background as he popped the question!
From that most romantic, memorable moment, Josh introduced Kelly to me and we set off to take their St. Michaels proposal photos around the property of the Inn. Josh had so many more surprises for Kelly that day – like having both their parents join them (they surprised all of us by popping in with a bottle of champagne!), as well as a boat ride on the river with their family and friends. I think it’s safe to say they started out their engagement on a really sweet foot.
Best wishes and congratulations to Kelly and Josh! I’m so excited for you both!
