HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

It’s Fun Monday! Certainly appropriate after the fun summer weekend I had! The weather in northern Virginia was spectacular for this time of year. A rain storm Friday night washed away the humidity & left us with low humidity & lots of sunshine. It was the perfect summer weekend!
Saturday morning I made it to yoga, ran some errands, & came home to plan my escape to the pool! I say, “plan my escape” because I always feel guilty leaving Milli at home while I go enjoy the sunshine! She loves loves loves the pool, but since dogs aren’t allowed in the community pool, she has to stay home while I indulge. Womp womp. I laid out for a good hour, got a little color, then came home to let her out on the patio to enjoy some sunbathing of her own. While Milli got her vitamin D, I made a delish fruit salad for my BNI picnic that afternoon. Mora of Cutting Edge by Mora hosted us at her beautiful home in Alexandria! Everyone brought a dish & a drink & all of the food was delicious! From there I went to D.C. with some fellow BNI-ers to celebrate their friend’s birthday at The Salt Line right across from Nats stadium. Their outdoor bar was the perfect place to spend a warm, breezy summer weekend evening & I definitely want to go back to try their food because it smelled delish!
Sunday Milli & I ventured out to historic Manassas for brunch with my friend Alexis for her birthday! We ate at Mariachi’s, which was adorable & had great food & even better drinks! I wish I snapped a pic of Alexis’ bloody Mary that came with four grilled to perfection shrimp! We’ll definitely be going back there & I’ll definitely be having that drink next time! We walked around a little & happened upon this shop, Scatter Seeds, that sells fair trade items made mostly by women in developing countries. I bought this sweet elephant pillow for my living room:I came home, made myself a delish little cocktail out of berry juice leftover from Saturday’s fruit salad (recipe to follow), & did chores while Milli played in the little baby pool I got her for the patio. I walked over to the window at one point to find her in this interesting position, all wet like a drowned rat from playing in the pool:She just cracks me up!
Stay tuned this week for another post in my series on wedding photography planning on #weddingwednesday and then a family session at my new favorite park on Thursday! Have a great week everyone!!1 8oz can Berry flavored La Croix
1 shot acai liqueur
1 shot fresh berry juice (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, ginger, lime, basil, mint)
Juice from 1 lime wedge
Add to a cocktail shaker & shake very gently (the La Croix will be super fizzy)
Enjoy, preferably pool side 😉
