Happy #weddingwednesday, folx! And what a Wedding Wednesday it is! I get to share with you Brittany and Clayton’s Top of the Town wedding in Arlington, Virginia, from this past weekend! Yay!
You probably remember Brittany and Clayton from their summer Capitol Hill engagement photos not too long ago – it was just last month. These two were set to say I do in June, until their Top of the Town wedding got postponed to August – you guessed it – due to COVID. Since gatherings are still limited to 50 people or fewer in this area, and since Brittany and Clayton wanted to be considerate of their guests’ health and well being, they decided to keep their guest list super intimate with just their closest family and friends. They included their extended family and loved ones via Zoom. Pretty thoughtful, eh?
Brittany and Clayton graduated from West Virginia (by God!) University earlier this summer, and moved into maybe the coolest spot in D.C. – Â directly across from Nats stadium! Not only is their location super sweet, their apartment building was so ideal for Brittany’s getting ready photos. The decor was awesome, and there was lots of gorgeous natural light streaming in from floor to ceiling windows. What a smart idea it was for these two to rent out the clubhouse for Brittany to get ready! And! The area where I took their details photos and getting ready moments happened to have a mural on the wall featuring their wedding colors! It was meant to be if ya ask me!
Even though their guest list was a little smaller than they originally intended, and the number of hours of their Top of the Town wedding day were reduced, Brittany and Clayton still put so much love and thought into lots of special details for their wedding. Everything was color coordinated, they had ‘branded’ gifts for the guests in the form of M&Ms with their wedding date and faces printed on them, and they had the cutest guest book in the form of wooden hearts where everyone could sign their name.
Brittany and Clayton had the extra good luck of having rain on their wedding day, which meant our grand plans for sunset portraits on the National Mall were a no-go. But, the great thing about their Top of the Town wedding venue was that it’s on the 12th floor of a building with gorgeous views of the city! We hopped outside a couple times and managed to get some stunning portraits within a matter of minutes between bouts of rain.
I think my favorite detail of the day (besides Brittany’s gorgeous dress that looks like she was born to wear it!) was how all their dance songs (first, father-daughter, mother-son) were set to tear-jerker country songs. They had my boo-hooing behind my camera the whole time!
Congratulations and best wishes, love birds! May you always find the silver linings like you did on your wedding day <3
