HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
Some days are just so perfect for photo sessions. The day we took Line and Hans’ glowing Capitol Hill elopement portraits was one of those days!
Line and Hans booked their glowing Capitol Hill elopements portraits way in advance! Something like seven months in advance, actually. They were going to be visiting the United States from Norway, and wanted to document their time in D.C. with a portrait sesh on Capitol Hill. Such a great idea! I was excited to meet them and capture these special, once in a lifetime portraits for the two Norwegian love birds.
When I met up with Line and Hans for their glowing Capitol Hill elopement portraits, there was an air about these two that was just so sweet! Even despite the language barrier (they did speak pretty darn good English; though I speak no Norwegian!), they were so great at taking direction. They were pure magic in front of the camera! Not to mention I loved Line’s striking yellow dress that just so happened to match the glowing light of our early autumn evening.
We walked around a little bit, and I got to ask them questions about Norway. I wanted to know if they also had a place like Capitol Hill in their country’s capitol where people loved to take photos. They said no! Major bummer for the Norwegians. (Though I have a feeling they have lots of other beautiful places to include in their photos…) I learned that they would be in the U.S. for about a month and they were doing a cross country roadtrip to see all the sights! Y’all… I’ve never even done that! haha
As I kept asking questions, I stumbled into a big one after noticing they were both wearing wedding bands: “so, how long have you been married?” “We got married today,” they said! Wow! That meant that the photos we were taking were actually their wedding portraits! Surprise! I was taken aback and just so excited for them! No wonder there was a sweet air about them! They were in that wedding day glow, and I didn’t even know it! haha They had decided to take advantage of their big U.S. vacation and get married at the Norwegian embassy in D.C. They surprised their loved ones back home by telling them after they said ‘I do’! What a fun treat!
Best wishes and congratulations (or gratulerer, as the Norwegians say) to Line and Hans!
