So excited to finally make some time to share Alexandra and Jon’s ethereal Rawlings Conservatory wedding photos from their October big day in Baltimore, MD!
I’m sure you remember Alexandra and Jon from their Federal Hill engagement photos this spring. Their engagement photos are some of my favs, and I know they made an impression on you too! One of my favorite elements of their engagement photos was how we got to include their sweet pup, Mattie. And guess what?! I got to see her again at their ethereal Rawlings Conservatory wedding too!
Alexandra and Jon got ready at their home in Baltimore. A handful of their closest loved ones were there to help them get ready. Originally I was just going to photograph them at their ceremony venue, but I’m glad they decided to add some extra time for getting ready photos at home. I’m sure having photos taken at home on your wedding day makes them a little more special to you. I hope that’s the case for Alexandra and Jon! They have the cutest townhome, with the perfect light and areas for taking the set of photos we wanted to take before heading out to the venue.
One of my favorite parts of Alexandra and Jon’s wedding day was their first look! We were able to set that up in their backyard. And bonus – that meant a few neighbors were able to wish them congratulations before they said their ‘I dos’! I really loved how these two took their time during their first look. They held on extra long during their hugs and embraced several times. They were just so happy to see each other on their big day, and they definitely had me tearing up behind the camera!
Prior to Alexandra and Jon’s wedding day, I had never been to Rawlings Conservatory. When I pulled up and saw the place – wow! I was immediately filled with excitement and couldn’t wait to get started! Fun fact: the photo of the outside of the building was taken right outside of my car. I rushed over to the passenger side, grabbed my camera, left the car door open, and immediately started taking photos! haha That’s how excited I was! (Don’t worry, I went back and locked up!) It’s such a beautiful venue from the outside, and even more exciting on the inside with all of the lush and exotic greenery. Photography heaven, if you ask me!
We had so much fun traipsing around the inside of the conservatory taking photos with the plant life and architecture. And even more fun outside in the gardens! Alexandra had these two veil-like pieces of fabric flowing from the straps of her wedding gown; she called them her ‘wings’. Not only did they create such a unique and stunning silhouette, they were really fun to play with for their portraits! A+ to Alexandra for her bridal style! (Jon, you looked great too!)
Jon and Alexandra’s ethereal Rawlings Conservatory wedding ceremony was so beautiful. They had a friend officiate, another friend played music, friends and family did readings, and of course their precious pup was present as the ‘maid of honor’. Their ceremony took place in the center of a greenhouse, where they were surrounded by story-tall trees and exotic plant life. It was such a cool set up! It gave me lots of opportunity to get creative with my angles and I’m just in love with their ceremony photos!
Best wishes and congratulations (again) to Alexandra and Jon (and Mattie)!
