HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
Kassidy and Colin are married! They said I do this past weekend at their Army Navy Country Club Arlington wedding in Arlington, Virginia.
Kassidy and Colin met about six years ago at her work in Tampa, FL. They got engaged in Tampa too! Colin surprised her at the pier there, got down on one knee, and the rest is history! History that culminated in their wedding this past weekend at Army Navy Country Club in Arlington.
Kassidy and Colin are two of the sweetest and most understanding people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The Tuesday before K & C’s wedding, I tested positive for COVID, which meant I wouldn’t be able to photograph their big day. After the initial shock and disappointment set in, I got a backup plan in place. The majority of the photos you’ll see below were taken by my associate, Leah, and second photographer, Stacey. (I say ‘majority’ because I ended up taking all of the bridal details photos at my house a few days after the wedding.) Kassidy and Colin have been so patient and kind about all of this. They handled the situation with grace and were able to fully enjoy their wedding day!
Speaking of their wedding day – I wasn’t there to see everything in person, but I can see from their photos that they had an absolutely beautiful day! I know Kassidy and Colin put extra love and care into all the classic details of their big day. The flowers looked lush and beautiful, Kassidy’s dress was a showstopper, and Colin looked so dapper in his dress uniform, complete with a sword! My favorite detail was they had six of Colin’s friends and colleagues do an Arch of Swords exit. So cool!
The experience of viewing Kassidy and Colin’s Army Navy Country Club Arlington wedding from a kind of third party perspective, reminded me of the power of photography. While I wasn’t there in person, some of their moments still had a big impact on me. Clicking through their first look, I could just feel the excitement and emotion – especially from Colin. I didn’t personally hear their vows being read, but through the photos I felt like I was there. And the high energy photos, like the introductions and dancing and even their sunset photos – I feel like I could hear the music and feel the warmth of the sun. I got to view their day just like you guys always do! The photos have a wonderful impact, and create the feeling of presence.
Kassidy and Colin included so many fun aspects to their day: they did a bridesmaids reveal, father-daughter first look, private vow reading, reception room reveal, sparkler exit – and something I had never heard of: a re-entry to the reception. The sparkler exit was actually a ‘faux-exit’, which included just their wedding party. The party kept going inside while they had their sparkler exit photographed. Afterwards, they went back into their reception with these LED tube lights, set to a specific party song, which was another fun element for the rest of their guests! Such a cool idea and it looked like such a high-energy, fun time!
Congratulations and best wishes are in order for Kassidy and Colin! May the rest of your lives together be as intentional and fun-filled as your wedding day.
(It sure helps that I have an all white condo!)
Look at these two cutie pies! Keep an eye out for them in the ceremony photos 😉
The sweetest!
Ow ow! My fav shot from the day! Nice work, Leah!
What fun to cut your cake with an actual sword!
Kassidy and Colin’s Vendor Team; with special acknowledgement and appreciation to Leah for stepping in as lead photographer for this wedding while I was sick with COVID, and taking great care of K&C! And thanks to Stacey for sacrificing a day off while she was in the middle of moving to step in as second photographer.
