Get ready to see some fancy dresses and a beautiful lady – it’s time for me to share Lauren’s Washington DC headshots!!
MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR INVESTMENT
Lauren is one of the recent folks who have taken my new style guide to heart. She booked her Washington DC headshots and after she read the style guide, decided to postpone the session for a few days so she could get even more squared away with regards to outfits and hair and makeup. That’s so relatable, right? You know you need to get something done, so you excitedly start planning, and then realize there are more ways you can really make your investment count and you need a little extra time.
LOOK LIKE YOURSELF
Lauren wanted to look like herself in her photos, while still looking polished. She ended up having her hair and makeup done by one of the wonderful ladies on the preferred vendors list at the end of my style guide; one of the women who does very natural looking hair and makeup. And both turned out looking great! Lauren still felt like herself.
CREATE DIMENSION
If you haven’t seen my Instagram stories series on why it’s important to have your makeup done for your photos, I’ll give you a little synopsis here: the way the camera picks up light on your face is different than the way light looks on your face in real life. You want your face to have dimension and your features to have definition to help create some of that dimension. Otherwise your features will all kinda of blend together, which isn’t how your face would appear in real life if someone were in front of you. A professional makeup artist will know how to create dimension with makeup in a way the camera will pick up.
DRESSES WITH MOVEMENT
Lauren really went all out with her outfit choices too! She took to heart how I suggest wearing clothes with some movement. She picked two fabulous dresses that were just so her. So her and so flattering on her, which is important in photos too, obviously. I am obsessed with that dress with ruffles – have you ever seen a more perfect photo shoot dress?!
TWO LOCATIONS
For Lauren’s Washington DC headshots session, she wanted to feature multiple locations that had meaning to her, so we did the two hour session. She loves to travel (she’s been to over 40 countries!), enjoys good restaurants, and she feels at home on Capitol Hill. It made sense to include Union Station as the main location for her session, to convey the travel idea, and then we went over to the Library of Congress since it has a very European vibe, plus it’s on the Hill.
I’m so excited to share Lauren’s Washington DC headshots, since we were able to collaborate in such wonderful ways to bring about beautiful photos for her!
