Happy Monday after the 4th folx! I hope you had a wonderful holiday, as different as it may have been from 4th of Julys past. I’ve been trying to get out and about as much as possible in my down time, so I spent the 4th of July weekend at the beach!
The past four months have been incredibly stressful. Stress-full. I know a lot of us have been feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, emotionally exhausted. And I have been right there with ya! I practice a fair amount of conscious and varied self care, and even that hasn’t prevented the overwhelm, stress, and exhaustion.
It kind of hit me last week that even with all that self care, I’ve still been indulging the stress a bit much. So I made a rule for the 4th of July weekend: avoid heaviness and seriousness at all costs! Our minds and bodies need rest in order to carry on our work, find alignment, and be our best selves. We skipped the podcasts, halted talk of current events, and let our silliness take over so we could have some fun! And that we did.
Saturday we drove down to the Outer Banks again (we love it there, have I mentioned that?!). We’ve been going to Corolla to the wild horse beach, but this 4th of July weekend we switched it up and went further south to Salvo. We spent the day on the beach laying out, tossing the football, seashell searching, and taking walks with Milli. We stopped at Bodie Island lighthouse for sunset… but were chased away by vicious horse flies!
Sunday we crossed over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to the eastern shore of Virginia. We stopped in at Cape Charles, before taking the scenic route to Wachapreague. Cape Charles was pretty quaint, with lots of beautiful homes by the beach. Wachapreague was quiet and peaceful. Ahhh…
I’m fresh off the holiday weekend and ready to get back to work this week! On the blog we’ll have Ali and Brendan’s engagement session, as well as some GW graduation photos. Stay tuned and have a lovely week!
