There’s something so pure about capturing natural light newborn photos. And the photos I’m sharing with you today of baby Logan and his family exemplify just what I’m talking about.
You guys, I get to see a lot of babies and one thing that always gets me chuckling is the adorable faces and noises they make while they’re sleeping. And baby Logan was no different! Logan’s mom had the heat turned up in the house so Logan would be comfortable and snuggly durning his natural light newborn photos session, and it worked like a charm! He was out like a light for the majority of our session and made the cutest little baby noises and faces as he slept.
My goal for the natural light newborn photos I do is to have the baby and his family feel at ease and at home throughout the session, and my hope is that’s how it worked out for Logan’s family. Logan got to stay in the comfort of his own home in the weeks after he was born instead of getting lugged out into the cold (it is the dead of winter here in the D.C. area!), and so did his parents. I feel like there’s enough going on as a new parent that leaving your house for newborn photos is kind of a hassle.
Using the baby’s own blankets and toys during their natural light newborn photos creates a feeling of homey-ness. Plus the family gets to create memories with their new baby in their own home, which I love. The natural light just adds to the feeling of authenticity I’m trying to create with these images. There’s totally a method to my madness!
All of these things were in play during Logan’s in-home natural light newborn photos this past weekend. His parents, Caitlin and Mike, were so sweet as they doted on him and admired his every move. I could tell they were enjoying all the baby snuggles with their new strawberry blond baby boy <3
