Oh, you are going to love the story that goes along with the photos I’m sharing today from Stephanie and Abe’s National Arboretum engagement photos in Washington, D.C.!
Stephanie contacted me the day after she and Abe got engaged, so I knew she was 1. so in love and 2. super excited about these engagement photos. She told me that Abe proposed the day before on the staircase at the old capitol columns located at the National Arboretum, and that they wanted to capture that memory while it was still fresh and while the autumn colors were still on the trees. The folks at the arboretum hooked us up with a photo permit in record time and we were able to make Stephanie and Abe’s wishes a reality with their National Arboretum engagement photos!
If you follow along on Instagram stories, you may remember over the summer I was at the arboretum photographing event setup for Natalie Thomas of the McNeese-Thomas Group (the team who manages events for the arboretum). Since I had never been to the arboretum before (not sure how I managed that!), Natalie was kind enough to give me a tour of the grounds that day. When I saw the old capitol columns, they just called to me! I hoped I would someday get to do a session or a wedding there and I’m just so excited it got to be with Stephanie and Abe!
The D.C. area has had a lot of funky weather going on this fall, and I’m so grateful it’s always worked out in my favor for the sessions I’ve had scheduled. The day of Stephanie and Abe’s National Arboretum’s engagement photos session, we lucked out with lots of sun and a cloud-less sky – seemingly the perfect autumn day! That was until you stepped outside… It was a chilly 43 degrees with 40 mph wind gusts! Mother Nature was not messing around! But lemme tell you, this couple charged through like pros! The benefit was it was a great incentive to stay extra close and snuggly to keep warm! haha They threw on their jackets between shots and locations, and during the photos they had their love to keep them warm!
Congratulations and best wishes to these two much in-love love birds! Thank you for bearing with me through the cold to get yourselves these stunning National Arboretum engagement photos!
