Happy Monday & happy October! Autumn has certainly taken over here in the D.C. area, with chillier temps and brisk breezes. This weekend I became intimately familiar with this change in weather, as I spent a LOT of time outdoors! First at Oktoberfest and then at a shoot and a vineyard. I also became familiar / reacquainted with my penchant for not dressing for the weather… More on that later!
I kicked off the weekend with a little Rachel time. I gave myself the night off on Friday to run errands and do some self care. I cooked dinner, cleaned up the house, did my nails, made some fun fall blends with new essential oils, and watched lots of Netflix! The perfect Friday evening before a busy weekend.
Saturday morning I sprang out of bed for some yoga at home, then got ready and met up with my brother and his girlfriend, Liz, for brunch in Shirlington. We had to get all nice and full before embarking on beer adventures at Oktoberfest! I’m not a huge beer drinker, but it’s always fun testing each brewery’s concoctions. The Oktoberfest beers are always my fav! While it was great hanging out with everyone, the weather was not the best. It was chilly and windy and I was not dressed for it! So I spent most of the day freezing my booty off. Womp womp.
Sunday morning I was up bright and early, heading to McLean for a photo shoot. Besides meeting this sweet family, it was really cool to see behind the scenes at the Madeira School where they live. We set up at the most beautiful spot overlooking the Potomac River and got lots of fun family photos, like these sneak peeks:
From there, I cruised over to Clarendon to pick up my dad’s birthday cake from Bakeshop – my favorite bakery in Arlington! I love all their indulgent concoctions and was excited to taste what they put together for my dad’s birthday: chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and chocolate chips. YUM! It was deLISH!
I grabbed Milli at home and made my way down to Calvert County and Running Hare Vineyards, our go-to family birthday celebration spot. We sit outside, enjoy the music, do wine tastings, eat lots of food, and enjoy each other’s company. I love getting to spent quality time with my nephews and niece, including this lil’ tree climber, Levi! Such the dare devel! haha
I did a bit of work last night and hit the sack early! I just love those kinds of Sundays!
On tap for this week: an engagement shoot, preparing for my first mini sesh marathon weekend and the styled shoot next week! October is always my busiest month and this year is no different! Check back this week to see photos from Azeezat & Jeremy’s engagement shoot in Columbia, Maryland!
Have a great week everyone!
