HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

elopements
I recently had the honor of photographing one adorable tiny human, miss Caroline, for her first birthday portraits. Caroline is is one lucky lady! She was surrounded by family on her first birthday who were all there to celebrate her turning one whole year old!
I met Caroline and her parents, Mary and Warner, at their home in McLean, one dreary spring Saturday afternoon. Rain was in the forecast for the day, so we crossed our fingers it would hold at least for the hour when we were taking our photos. We really lucked out b/c we didn’t get even one drop during our session! The weather gods must know how important first birthday portraits are!
Caroline’s family had the perfect front & back yards for photos! All of the recent spring rainfall made for super lush greenery throughout their entire yard, so we definitely took advantage of that! We set up Caroline on the front walkway, where the garden was in full bloom, becoming the perfect backdrop for Caroline’s gorgeous greyish blue eyes! Ahh wait til you see!
We rounded out the session with a bunch of family photos. The best part about having family around for a tiny human’s first birthday portraits is that they get to participate in entertaining the birthday girl during her photos! Caroline’s cousins, aunts & uncles, and grandma & grandpa had a blast dancing & singing behind me, trying to get some giggles & smiles on Caroline’s cutie pie face! I think everyone had a great time!
The family dogs were part of the session too, of course, so we had to make sure to get some doggy portraits while we were at it! Jordy & Izzie sat still, waiting for their treats, while I snapped a few fur baby photos in the field behind their family’s home. These two were just too cute!
Thanks to Caroline’s family for welcoming me into your home & allowing me to celebrate Caroline’s special day with you all!
