HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
When life hands you lemons on your wedding day, you make lemonade! That’s just what Rachel and Zak did for their winter National Mall elopement a few weeks ago in Washington, D.C.!
Pages Story
Rachel and Zak have the most wonderful story! They met as teenagers while working in the Congressional page program at the Capitol. They went to school and worked on the hill and in D.C., so of course they wanted to incorporate the Capitol in their elopement photos.
Low Key and Loving I Dos
Rachel and Zak are a self described low key couple. As such, it was totally aligned for them to have a simple but loving ceremony, including just a few close family members. They rented a beautiful hotel room in the city and did a Zoom marriage ceremony, just the two of them in person, and their family and officiant joined them online. Pretty romantic, if ya ask me!
Extended Session
After their morning nuptials, Rachel went all out and got her hair and makeup done for our session later that day. She wore a cute white dress (and stylish light blue coat! It was like 35 degrees, after all), and Zak got dressed up in a sweet suit. Photos were important part of Rachel and Zak’s wedding day, so they booked the extended session so we could do multiple locations. We included the mall, the National Gallery of Art, Lincoln Memorial, and Constitution Gardens.
Lemons Into Lemonade
Since the Capitol Hill area was completely fenced off at the time, I got creative and found the perfect spot for us to start their winter National Mall elopement session. We were far enough away so you couldn’t see the fences, but close enough that the Capitol dome could still be prominently featured in their photos. Phew! Rachel and Zak were totally understanding about the change of plans (lemons, if you will) and went with the flow to make lemonade with beautiful photos in a new beautiful spot!
Exciting Life
Upon meeting up with these two love birds, I could tell how excited they were to be married – and to be starting their family together. Rachel and Zak are expecting a baby later this year, and she was showing just enough at the time that we included a few baby-focused photos as well 🙂
Congratulations and best wishes on all your exciting life events, love birds!
I love the above pic!! This was at the beginning of the session & they were already crushing it, looking so happy!
Rachel, lady, you are glowing!!
