If April and Mike’s DC cherry blossoms maternity session says anything about them as a couple, it says they’re going to be wonderful parents! There was lots to contend with for their shoot, and these two were patient and went with the flow. Two characteristics that are perfect for parents!
April and Mike’s DC cherry blossoms maternity session was the last photo shoot I did before everything was shut down due to COVID-19 precautions. I’m glad I had such a wonderful time and lots of gorgeous photos to tide me over through quarantine!
We had been planning April and Mike’s DC cherry blossoms maternity session for months! We were all super excited that the date they picked months earlier was going to fall during cherry blossoms peak bloom. We had originally planned to do their session at the Tidal Basin, but that area was shut down the week prior. April and Mike flowed with the changes and I recommended a secret spot where we could still get the cherry blossoms photos they wanted!
The morning of the session it was misting – just enough to make a totally outdoor session problematic. We met up and made a game time decision to head over to the Kennedy Center, which would offer some protection from the rain. Again, these two just went with it! And I’m so glad they were up for it because I really love the images we captured at the Kennedy Center!
April and Mike were so fun to get to know throughout their session. They’re somewhat recent transplants to D.C. by way of my fav city, San Diego. They’re super excited to welcome their baby and like I said, I think they’re going to be fantastic parents!
It finally stopped drizzling, so we headed back for their cherry blossoms photos. April and Mike’s outfits were absolutely perfect for both locations, but especially at the blossoms. The light colors created an ethereal look with the soft pink blossoms surrounding them. Ahhh… I love cherry blossoms season! And I love these photos of such a happy couple and expectant parents <3
