HI, I'M RACHEL!

If you know me, you know I am *not* a morning person. I’m embarrassed to say my usual wake up time and even more embarrassed to share what time I get out of bed – haha! But it’s mornings like we had for Laura and Greg’s autumn Great Falls engagement photos that make it worth getting up early for photo shoots!
I have to give Laura and Greg so many props! First, they let me know that they had read all the material I sent before their autumn Great Falls engagement photos, as well as went through multiple engagement session blog posts to prepare. Plus the morning of the shoot was freezing cold – it was one of the first really cold mornings we had this season, and they were total champs! Not only did they willingly take off their coats for most of the shots, they hiked down a steep path of slippery wet rocks to get down to the beach. I would say all that effort was worth it for these gorgeous photos!
Even more props! Because we had such a long trek to get to the beach (through puddles and mud and the steep rocks), we didn’t go over anything at the beginning of their session! I wanted to make sure we caught the perfect light before the sun came blazing over the tree line, so I threw them in the deep end, so to speak, and we hit the ground running! I was yelling posing instructions from far away, trying to be louder than the rushing water, and they did such a great job listening and doing what I was instructing. Not exactly how I like to start a session, but hey – we are bound by light and we made it work!
Through all of that, it was clear how much these two love each other! Laura and Greg love to hike, so I knew they could handle all of it – and even still, it was a lot! It was wonderful to see how they helped each other, looked out for each other, and managed to stay in the romantic zone in the midst of the cold, the hiking, and all of the other elements. They had fun with it and so did I, AND we got beautiful photos too!
