Ooh you guys! Sometimes all the elements come together for a truly magical photo shoot, and Charlotte and Jake lucked out because such was the case for their Georgetown waterfront engagement photos!
Charlotte and Jake got engaged just weeks before we took their Georgetown waterfront engagement photos, so their just-engaged-bliss was still palpable during their session! They got engaged at Charlotte’s parents’ farm house where Charlotte has lots of memories, and I think it was so sweet of Jake to incorporate it into his proposal.
Charlotte and Jake love the city and they also love to spend time outdoors together, so they wanted a quintessential D.C. location to feature in their engagement photos and still wanted an outdoorsy feel. The Georgetown waterfront was the perfect location because there’s the water, the Key Bridge in the background, and lots of greenery for that outdoor vibe.
We were tight on time for their Georgetown waterfront engagement photos because Jake was about to leave town for business school, and again, they wanted to capture that just engaged feeling. We scheduled things kind of quickly (you would never know by how polished and adorable these two look!), and it was calling for storms the night of our session. We were all a little worried about the weather but figured we could pop under the overpass if it started raining, and went ahead as planned!
And y’all, I am so thankful we did! The weather turned out to be gorgeous and the light was amazing!! There was a light breeze to keep us cool and to give Charlotte’s second dress the perfect little fluff, and that golden sunshine was sparkling in the background of the trees. Oh, it was a dream!
Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple!
