HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

Ooh I’m excited to share a new location with you today (new to this blog), and excited to share with you my friend Joy’s autumn Fort Ward Park portraits!
2013
I met Joy in 2013 when working on a project in Riverside, California, during the time when I was a government contractor. Our organizations were collaborating to put together a conference where people were flying in from all over the world. I organized a lot of the logistical elements and Joy was super helpful that week keeping everything and everyone in line.
Big Move
Joy and I have kept in touch since then, and when she moved to Arlington for a job about a year ago (right as COVID hit!) I was both excited to have her nearby and disappointed that we couldn’t see each other because of quarantine. When things started loosening up, Joy was excited to book a photo session with her boyfriend, Jared, to capture the beautiful east coast foliage – something new and novel to these two Arizonians.
Not an Afterthought
When Joy mentioned that she wanted the focus of their session to be fall foliage, I immediately thought we should do autumn Fort Ward Park portraits! I’ve done family sessions at Fort Ward Park in the past, but it’s always kind of an afterthought sort of location and I’m not exactly sure why I think of it that way. It’s a beautiful park and as you’ll see, shows off the foliage and autumn light perfectly!
How to See Me!
This pair is super cute together and it was fun to see Joy happy and smiley with her guy! And just wonderful to see Joy, period! She came to the area for work a few years ago and we had brunch, but it’s been about four years since then. I’ve been joking with my friends and family that if they want to see me during quarantine, they have to book a photo shoot! haha We get to see each other and you walk away with gorgeous photos, just like Joy!
Aren’t they stinkin’ adorable?!
They were up for doing so many fun poses! Including being the first couple to try the leaf throwing pic!
Did this post get you excited to book your own wedding, micro-wedding, elopement, or engagement session?! If yes, send me a note and we can chat about what you have in mind: contact me
