HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
There have been a lot of last minute and unexpected changes to weddings within the past two months, thanks to COVID-19. Nicole and Chris’ spring Ellicott City wedding was no exception. I think if you ask them, though, things have still worked out beautifully for them.
You probably remember Nicole and Chris from their engagement session last year at the Shrine of St. Anthony, also in Ellicott City, Maryland. These two love birds are steadfast in their faith and were excited to host family and friends at their home church for their May 2nd wedding.
Once the restrictions on gatherings over 10 people were issued and it became apparent that travel plans would have to be cancelled, Nicole and Chris were faced with the tough reality that their original wedding plans were fading away. They quickly came up with a new idea: get married ASAP! And that they did.
Nicole and Chris moved up their wedding date and cut down their guest list to ten people… including me! They got to get married in the same church they had intended to for their spring Ellicott City wedding in May. In order to still include everyone, they streamed the ceremony for remote friends and family. The groom’s uncle – a priest – performed the mass, and gave the best homily on how this was all actually perfect.
My absolute favorite part of Nicole and Chris’ spring Ellicott City wedding was the surprise that awaited them after the ceremony. Their friends who were on their original guest list waited in the parking lot for them to walk out. They held up supportive signs, cheered, and exclaimed congratulations. It definitely brought tears to my eyes!
Since it was raining, we decided to switch to our rain plans for portraits: the Shrine of St. Anthony, where there was a covered area to protect us from the rain. And when we pulled up – guess what I saw! A bunch of cherry blossoms trees!! By that time it was just misting, so we took advantage and threw down the umbrella for some gorgeous shots with the trees.
Congratulations and best wishes to Nicole and Chris! I hope you continue to see perfection in all things and that you’re able to appreciate all the silver linings that come your way.
