HI, I'M RACHEL!

Eep! I’m so excited to share these Old Town Alexandria wedding portraits from Alexandria, Virginia, with you today! Not just because the couple in them is beautiful, and the photos themselves are too (if I do say so myself…), but because of the circumstances surrounding the session and how everything worked out.
Mari and Ishan were married earlier this week in a courthouse ceremony, and wanted to celebrate with Old Town Alexandria wedding portraits that afternoon. Family flew in and it was important for them to have photos with their loved ones in addition to their Old Town Alexandria wedding portraits. Of course!
The day of Mari and Ishan’s wedding I woke up to lots of rain, and the forecast was calling for rain in the afternoon, when we had scheduled their Old Town Alexandria wedding portraits. I hate to reschedule sessions due to weather, but when it’s pouring rain, there isn’t much of a choice. I asked what they would like to do and they chose to move forward with the session, especially considering they had out of town guests and plans for the rest of the week. So I put on my Hunters, packed my umbrellas, and headed out!
Luckily the rain held off for the majority of Mari and Ishan’s Old Town Alexandria wedding portraits and we were able to capture photos of their family and friends, as well as lots of portraits of just the two love birds. Ishan’s mother gave Mari a gorgeous sari to wear for the ceremony, so she wanted some portraits in that before changing into her white wedding gown.
After Mari changed, we walked over to the Wilkes Street Tunnel, and that’s where Ishan and Mari’s personalities started to shine for me! Ishan came over to me and said, “I’m going to pick her up and spin her!” – and I was like, yes – go for it! haha From there they both got creative with their requests for where we could take photos and what they would do in them, as you’ll see below!
Eventually it started to rain, but Mari and Ishan were totally game to make the most of it for the last couple photos. We grabbed a couple in front of the water and Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and even in front of Ishan’s car – possibly my favorite images from their entire session!
Congratulations and best wishes to Ishan and Mari on your wedding, and thank you for being so fun to work with!
