HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!

Cori and Rich’s love story began in a somewhat unexpected place. You go to work everyday expecting to do a good job, please your boss, BE the boss, maybe make some friends. I don’t think most people go to work thinking they’re going to meet their future spouse! But Cori and Rich defied the unexpected – they fell in love at work. And on Monday, they celebrated both their love and their engagement with a classic cherry blossoms engagement session at the D.C. tidal basin… before they headed off to work for the day! How fitting!
When I first met up with Cori and Rich about a month ago, they shared how they got engaged: in the privacy of their own home, Rich popped the question, made Cori breakfast, and then they celebrated with something super fun – a Capitols game! I just love that! I mean… if you want a girl to say she’ll marry you, you should probably make her breakfast! haha
That was back in the fall, and now that it’s spring time, these two love birds were excited to really kick off their engagement season with a classic cherry blossoms engagement session! One thing I know about Cori and Rich is they are super patient. I know this because they waited for almost a month for their classic cherry blossom engagement session to take place! The cherry blossoms this season took their sweet little time getting to peak bloom and we ended up rescheduling our session two times! But Cori & Rich were dedicated to making it happen, and finally we were able to meet up at peak bloom this past Monday.
Peak bloom it was, but it was also freezing cold. These two were total troopers though – you can’t tell at all that it was in the mid-30s and super windy throughout their entire classic cherry blossoms engagement session. Cori rocked those sleeveless outfits and her strappy heels like a boss! And her reward? Beautiful engagement photos with her love and the cherry blossoms just like they wanted 🙂
Congratulions and best wishes to Rich and Cori! Thank you for rocking out your session in the cold, for bearing with me, and being super sweet in the process. Enjoy!
Shout out to Carla Pressley of Carla Pressley Hair and Makeup for doing Cori’s makeup and getting up at the crack of dawn to do so!

[…] I mentioned on Instagram the other day that although I don’t consider myself a super girlie girl (or shallow!), I absolutely love taking photos of flowers and diamonds! Maybe that is the little bit of girlie that exists inside me! So pair that with my love for photographing couples and this D.C. cherry blossoms engagement session is basically my photography dream come true (as well as Cori & Rich’s from last week!). […]
