Washington, D.C. Rehearsal Dinner
When Caroline told me her & Judd’s rehearsal dinner was to take place at a barbecue restaurant – Hill Country Barbecue Market, to be exact – in Washington, D.C., I pictured a tiny room tucked away from the hustle & bustle of the rest of the restaurant.  A small, intimate, down home style dinner with their closest friends & family. I had it all right – except the ‘small’ part. These folks reserved the entire restaurant in order to treat their wedding guests to one of the sweetest, liveliest rehearsal dinners I have ever seen!
Caroline & her sweetheart, Judd, wanted to infuse a little Texas into their wedding weekend, being that is where Judd is from, and I fully believe there was no better way to do so than to host their rehearsal dinner at Hill Country Barbecue Market. The scent of meat cooking & bbq sauce bubbling greeted C & J’s guests before they even made it through the front door. The friendly staff had fresh margaritas & cold beer ready to pass around, and had decorated the rustic wood tables with classic checkered table cloths, peppered with bottles of their house-made sauce.
C & J, who met in 2011 by the good grace of a mutual friend, hosted friends from their childhood, high school, undergrad, and beyond, as well as family from all over the country. Everyone had hugs to give & kind words to share about the happy couple, culminating in seven touching yet hilarious toasts (or roasts?) throughout the evening and a slideshow of sweet photos of the bride & groom, put together by friends, that even brought a tear to my eye.
Thank you Caroline & Judd for the opportunity to capture such wonderful memories (and a special shout out to miss Abby Grace for referring me!). I hope your lives continue to be filled with adventure, loved ones, & joy!
