HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I get to introduce you to another pair of #REHPlovebirds today! Allison and Mike are getting married later this year, so last fall we met up in Ellicott City, Maryland, for their autumn Centennial Park engagement photos!
Cool Hobbies
Allison and Mike are quite the dynamic duo! They love doing outdoorsy stuff together, like kayaking and Mike loves to fish! They also love the Caps and playing ice hockey – what cool hobbies! (Pun intended.) It makes sense why they would want their engagement photos taken in such a beautiful natural setting, right on a peaceful lake.
Foggy Portraits
I met up with Allison and Mike bright and early one morning last fall… except it wasn’t exactly ‘bright’. On my drive to the park it was super foggy. Like… way foggy. I admit I was a little worried that the fog would be too thick to even see Allison and Mike for their autumn Centennial Park engagement photos!
When we arrived at the park, it was still very foggy and dark, so we waited an extra 15 minutes or so before getting out and starting the session. I was hoping that by the time I was done with my little spiel I do at the beginning of every session, the fog would clear out more. Nope… it didn’t haha It was still incredibly foggy at the beginning of our session and stayed that way until just before the very end!
When the Chips Are Down (or the fog is out)
When things like this happen, it’s easy to tell what kind of a couple you’re with. Allison and Mike were so understanding and went with the flow. I can tell they’re really laid back and just excited to be together, no matter where they are or what they’re doing. They had so much patience as I figured out where we should go (we literally couldn’t see our surroundings) and how I could best use the light we were working with. (Sun shining through fog, which is essentially water droplets hanging in the air, will create a hazy effect. Pretty challenging to work with.)
Unique Engagement Photos
All in all, I have to say I was pretty excited by the final results of Allison and Mike’s images. I’ve never shot in fog that thick before, and I think the effect looks really cool! They definitely walked away with unique engagement photos! And the photos were made all the better considering Allison and Mike were total naturals in front of the camera! They were so warm and loving with each other, and really funny too! I love the photos of them laughing and enjoying each other.
I’m excited to see Allison and Mike later this year for their wedding, back in Ellicott City!
Love this one! It’s kinda eery, but still romantic.
Seriously, how cute are they?!
Finally the fog cleared and we could see across the lake!
