You might guess that being a wedding and portrait photographer is a pretty fun job, and you would be correct. It’s an incredibly fun and unique job – pretty much all the time, that’s why it’s impressive when I have an exceptionally fun day. I’m excited to share these Old Town Alexandria women’s headshots with you today because this shoot was one of the times when I had an exceptionally fun day!
Erin contacted me about taking photos of some of her friends to celebrate how awesome their lives are! She said these three women are remarkable, kind, fun, funny, talented, and successful, and they wanted to commemorate all of that with an Old Town Alexandria women’s headshots photo shoot. Hell yeah! I was on board from the very beginning.
We did an extended portrait session so I could be sure to give each of the four ladies ample and equal time in front of the camera. I worked with each of them to plan their outfits and understand which areas of Old Town appealed to them most, so I could map out a route and make sure each woman was happy with the locations during this Old Town Alexandria women’s headshots session.
What made this an exceptionally fun day for me was seeing and hearing how these women cheered each other on and were so supportive throughout the entire session. Usually during photo shoots, it’s just me and my subject or me and a couple – but the dynamic is the same where I’m the only one behind the camera and they’re in front of it. But during this session, one woman was in front of the camera and there were four of us behind the camera! I was taking photos, giving instructions and encouragement, and the other three ladies were behind the camera cheering on their friend as she got her photo taken! I could tell it was so helpful having a personal cheering squad filled with friends who could empathize, because they were also getting their picture taken.
I definitely want to do more sessions like this! It’s so fun having a group of friends cheer you on as you have your headshots taken, and it’s a great way to get photos to use for dating profiles as well! There’s nothing like having support from your friends <3
