Happy day! I get to share some of my favorite images from Gretchen and Duncan’s wildflower filled Leesburg wedding in Leesburg, Virginia from this past weekend!
You definitely remember Gretchen and Duncan, because I just shared their engagement photos last week! But one adorable little ray of sunshine was missing from those photos. That’s their dog, Maggie! Maggie made several appearances throughout Gretchen and Duncan’s wildflower filled Leesburg wedding, much to my delight!
You may also recognize Gretchen from her cousin Anna’s wedding photos from last autumn. Gretchen was a bridesmaid in Anna’s wedding party and that’s how we met! It was fun to see Anna and her husband, Dacian, again on Gretchen’s wildflower filled Leesburg wedding day. Such a lovely reunion!
I wasn’t able to be there to photograph their entire wildflower filled Leesburg wedding day (I left that to my associate team, Melinda and Rachit), thanks to ongoing medical issues. I did manage to show up to Gretchen’s getting ready spot to take their details photos. And what did I find when I arrived? Literal buckets full of flowers for me to use! Gretchen’s mom grew all of the flowers for the wedding! She also handmade all the bouquets and floral centerpieces. She did an amazing job! All of the flowers were so beautiful and the colors were so vibrant. I was in heaven!
If you know me personally, you know that in my personal life I tend to skew more towards the anxious side of the emotional spectrum. (Not on a wedding day though! Somehow I am able to present cool as a cucumber!) That’s why I’m always taken by brides who are genuinely cheerful and calm the morning of their wedding. And Gretchen was just that type of bride. She was so chipper and excited, and so fun to be around, honestly. She was saying please and thank you left and right, and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time. Color me impressed!
Speaking of Gretchen’s cheerful disposition, as I was able to see from the photos – the rain on their wildflower filled Leesburg wedding day did not get her down! The smile remained on her face throughout the day! Luckily their ceremony was in the woods, where they were protected from the sprinkle. And it looks like there were just enough breaks in the rain for some outdoor portraits. Score!
Congratulations and best wishes to Gretchen and Duncan!
