Today I get to share about Anna and Dacian’s beautiful autumn Potomac Point Winery wedding in Stafford, Virginia! So excited for you to see these photos!
If you’ve been around here for a while you know how much I love winery weddings! So I was super excited to photograph Anna and Dacian’s autumn Potomac Point Winery wedding. I was doubly excited after meeting Anna and Dacian at their engagement session. They are so cute together, so in love, and so great at having their photo taken!
When I first arrived I got to meet Anna and Dacian’s adorable daughter, Maya. She was wandering around the bridal suite, giving everyone hugs. Throughout the day she would run over to Anna or Dacian and just touch their legs to kind of check in, and then run away. It was the sweetest thing! I’m obsessed with all the cute photos we got of her throughout the day.
Being that Anna and Dacian’s autumn Potomac Point Winery wedding took place on the day daylight savings ended, we decided to do all of their portraits before the ceremony while we still had daylight. We had plenty of time to make use of the picturesque surroundings and we got to use a lot of the grounds for everything from their first look to wedding party photos to Anna’s bridal portraits. Ooh their portraits are so good!
One of my favorite parts of Anna and Dacian’s autumn Potomac Point Winery wedding day was the very beginning of their ceremony. Anna’s uncle was their officiant and he started the ceremony by letting Anna know he was using her grandfather’s prayer book. Cue the tears! I saw on Anna’s face how special that was to her and it really set the tone for a meaningful – albeit, short – ceremony. It started to rain just a few minutes into the ceremony, so you’ll notice Anna’s sweet dad holding an umbrella over their heads. Anna’s uncle sped up the ceremony and quickly pronounced them husband and wife before it started pouring!
Another favorite part of Anna and Dacian’s autumn Potomac Point Winery wedding were the toasts given by Anna’s maid of honor, Courtney, and Dacian’s best man, Michael. They both had everyone cracking up! Especially Michael when he revealed a hilarious secret from Dacian’s bachelor party, complete with photos projected on the wall! I’ve heard a lot of funny stories in toasts in my career, but that one might top the list!
I’ll share one more favorite moment: it was the end of the night and my time to head out, when Dacian let me know he wanted me to photograph a dance with his grandmother, his daughter, and him. It was so, so touching and I’m glad I stayed to capture those sweet memories. Grooms usually don’t ask for much during a wedding; they typically support whatever vision their bride has for the day and are just excited to get married. So when a groom asks me for something specific that has special meaning to him, I always want to honor that.
Congratulations and best wishes to Anna, Dacian, and Maya!
