HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I’m so excited to share photos from Katie and Will’s Yards Park anniversary photos session with you today!
2020 RE-DO
Katie and Will were married last year and wanted to take photos around their one year anniversary. Their wedding was a little different than they had envisioned (2020 couples, can you relate?!), and they were excited to do a little more planning to incorporate some of their favorite things in their anniversary portraits.
A FEW OF THEIR FAVORITE THINGS
Katie and Will enjoy a number of fun hobbies in common that they like to spend time doing together, like building legos (Will even incorporated a large lego construction in his proposal to Katie!) and cooking. And one of their most favorite hobbies is baseball. These two love birds are huge Washington Nationals fans and even have half season tickets to go to the games. Once I heard that, I knew we had to do their session at Yards Park so we could include a stop at Nats stadium.
PORTRAITS AT YARDS PARK
I’ve done a couple sessions at Yards Park in the past – one was a family mini session with a newborn baby and one was a proposal with portraits after. I was excited to do a full portrait session at Yards Park with all adults and where both people knew the session was happening! haha Katie and Will fit both of those criteria! And even better, they had a real connection with the area, being big Nats fans.
SORRY NOT SORRY
Y’all – I might have slightly embarrassed myself at this session with how much I geeked out over that awesome tunnel bridge thing. I’ve shot on it before, but not to this extent. The proposal I photographed there was in the evening, so there was lots of foot traffic so we didn’t spend a lot of time on the bridge. And with the mini session, the baby was fussy, so I was distracted from how cool this bridge is. At Katie and Will’s Yards Park anniversary photos session, I kept getting more and more excited the more I moved around on the bridge and saw all the different lines within it that lend themselves so beautifully to photographs. Katie and Will were so patient with me while I nerded out, and were so gung-ho to try all the things!
NATIONALS FANS
While I loved all the time I got to spend with Katie and Will during their Potomac Yards anniversary photos session, I think my favorite time with them was at the end when we got to Nats stadium. They were so excited to wear their sweet 2020 Mrs & Mr jerseys and to have pictures with the stadium. It was just fun to see them as a couple celebrating one of the fun things they enjoy in their relationship.
Did this post get you excited to book your own anniversary, elopement, or engagement session?! If yes, send me a note and we can chat about what you have in mind: contact me.
