HI, I'M RACHEL!

It’s Labor Day! I hope you’re enjoying a day off for enjoyment and fun! This Labor Day weekend I was back in northern Virginia and DC for just short of a handful of photo sessions, before scooting back to Virginia Beach.
Labor Day weekend started off Saturday morning with a bright and early drive to Great Falls Park in McLean, Virginia, to photograph a proposal. I made it there in about 3.5 hours (yay for off peak hour traffic!) and had a little time to spare, so I stopped in at Tysons Galleria. I ordered brunch from Maggiano’s on my friend, Vanessa “the brunch guru”’s suggestion. Their French toast and home fries are so freaking delicious! OMG. And I stopped in at JCrew and got the cutest pair of jeans and earrings on sale. Woot woot!
I then made my way to Great Falls Park. I hiked to the beach area and waited on the giant rocks for Antonio and Sara to show up. He popped the question, she said yes!, and then we took some portraits around the park before I had to hit the road back to DC. Aren’t they the cutest?!
As I was just getting into Georgetown, they shut down the street right in front of me, blocking traffic from entering Georgetown. I exited over the Key Bridge and saw more cop cars blocking off the bridge… thank goodness I know my way around the area and was able to find another way to the waterfront! Apparently there was a pop-up demonstration/protest. I found a rockstar parking space and made it just in time to meet Kaori & Yoshi for their maternity photos! These two were a dream to work with – so excited and so sweet!
Afterwards, I headed to my friend, Rebecca’s, sister’s house, where I got to spend the night. They are so good to me! I snoozed away in my own king sized bed, falling asleep to the original Mary Poppins on Disney+. I got up bright and early to meet Kira and her family for their session at a nearby park. Just look at those cheeks! I couldn’t get enough!
After their session, it was time for a nap! And some editing work, before my final session of Labor Day weekend – my friend, Monica and her family! I’ve known Monica for years – from my pole fitness days (she is an awesome instructor, and CorePower Yoga instructor too!). We were originally supposed to do a newborn session for her daughter, Amelia, but quarantine happened, so we pushed back and changed it to an extended family session. It was so great getting to meet Amelia and to see Monica again too!
Afterwards, I watched Mulan with Rebecca and her sister’s family before hopping in the car to head home to VA Beach. Today we’re going to combine work with pleasure by doing some location scouting at nearby parks. I’m excited to see what’s out there! I’ll take you along with me over on IG stories (www.instagram.com/rachelehphotos). Have a great week, folks!
