This sister graduation photo session is so fun and I’m super excited to share it with you!
Kate and Hannah are sisters. They both graduated in 2022; Kate with her degree in Biomedical Engineering from GW University, and Hannah with her masters from a school in New York. They were both excited to have photos taken to celebrate their graduation in the nation’s capitol!
I’ve done a few photo sessions like this where more than one sibling in a family is graduating in the same year. It’s so special! I just loved the idea of doing a combined sister graduation photo session! Each of the ladies could have photos taken separately, of course. And then we could also highlight the special time in this family’s history by taking photos with the two of them together in their regalia.
We decided to do their session at the quintessential D.C. location: the Lincoln Memorial. I feel like D.C. is such a unique location for graduation photos. Usually graduates want photos on their campus, and that’s usually where they are taken. But in D.C. it’s different! D.C. is such a special place and it’s a destination spot for colleges. Of course graduates want to highlight the beautiful monuments and memorials in their graduation portraits! It’s fun to highlight the unique place where you went to college.
The extra special thing about this photo session is that Kate and Hannah’s parents were in town for their sister graduation photo session. Their mom, Sally, is the one who arranged the session for the ladies. And she was there helping us keep their regalia and extra outfits squared away. Thanks Sally!
