It’s still grad season on the blog! And I’m excited to share these class of 2022 UMD group graduation photos from last spring!
Emma, Jilly, and their friends had kind of a unique grad session. Emma and Jilly really wanted individual portraits, and they also had a group of friends they wanted to include in some group photos. So what we ended up doing was in each spot we stopped for photos, we did some individuals with Emma and Jilly, as well as group photos with the whole bunch. It worked out really well!
What I’ve noticed about UMD grads is they usually want to do most of their photos in their dresses, and then they want to change into jeans and UMD tees at the end of the session. Typically I suggest we stick to one outfit for grad sessions, especially when there’s a large group.
But let me tell ya! They are always so quick to change! They waste zero time and before I know it we’re ready to shoot some casual photos. I actually really like the jeans and tee looks because they’re more of-the-time. The dressier outfits with the caps and gowns are timeless. And the jeans and tees gives the ladies a chance to show off their personalities!
On this particular day there was a chance of rain. All of our schedules were packed and this was the only day we could all do the session. I kept a close eye on the radar and we moved the session forward in the day by several hours. But guess what! Our UMD group graduation photos still got rained on!
As luck would have it, there were some white tents set up around the mall from a festival they’d had the week prior. We were able to hide out under the tents to wait for breaks in the rain. When it let up, we ran out to the fountain, took some photos, then ran back. We were even able to take some photos under the tents that had open sides – and you can’t even tell we were under a tent! I have to say, that added an extra element of fun to the session, even for me!
