HI, I'M RACHEL!

Oh wow, am I excited today! I’m kicking off a three part series where I share photos from sessions I did last year with the kwanzan cherry blossom trees! We’re starting today with Clare and Casey’s kwanzan cherry blossoms engagement session.
Clare’s mom, Robin, reached out to me before Clare and Casey were officially engaged. Robin knew when Casey was planning to propose, and she wanted to give her daughter a cherry blossoms engagement session as a gift – how thoughtful! The original plan was for the session to take place just days after their engagement. But Mother Nature had other ideas!
The day of their session it was supposed to be in the low to mid 20s, so we decided to reschedule. Then, the date that we rescheduled for happened to be towards the end of the cherry blossom bloom and well past peak bloom. The freezing temperatures caused the blossoms to shrivel up! So we ended up rescheduling for the following week when the kwanzan cherry blossoms would be in bloom.
It’s always stressful reaching out to clients to reschedule, especially with the cherry blossoms. Clare and Casey were the sweetest and the most understanding and I so appreciated their flexibility. While I love, love, love the traditional (yoshino and akebono) cherry blossoms, I have to admit I was really excited to get to shoot with the kwanzan blossoms! You’ll see why!
OK, enough about the blossoms – it’s time to start bragging on Clare and Casey! These two were the absolute cutest! They were total rock stars in front of the camera and made my job so super easy. They clearly were in that just-engaged-glow (or maybe they’re always like that!) and just so smitten with each other.
We started out at the Jefferson and then headed over to the kwanzan blossom area to finish out the session. I remember thinking when we were done that I hoped they reached out about their wedding photography because it would be so fun to work with them again. Spoiler alert: they did reach out and I was already booked on their wedding day! To say I am jealous of whoever they booked as their photographer is an understatement! At least I have their gorgeous kwanzan cherry blossoms engagement photos to comfort me! haha
