MORE ABOUT ME
Proud pup mom, type A creative, lover of the outdoors, Top Chef fan girl, and wedding and portrait photographer. Welcome to the blog!
HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
We’ve wrapped another year and that means I’m excited to share my best of 2022 weddings!!
In 2022, I photographed 11 full wedding days for 11 wonderful couples! (By ‘full wedding days’, I mean eight or more consecutive hours of photography on a wedding day.) I’ve found that between 10-15 weddings each year is a good number of weddings for me. So 11 full weddings fit perfectly in an otherwise busy, productive, and full-calendar kind of year.
The beauty of photographing 11 full wedding days is I have the opportunity to get to know my clients and understand what’s important to them on their big day. I get to know them through the planning process, through taking their engagement photos, following them on social media, reading their questionnaires, chatting on the phone. On the wedding day it’s felt like a fun reunion and I’m that much more invested in their special moments.
This year was somewhat unique, in that I had two distinct wedding seasons. I photographed six weddings in the spring (including five weekends in a row!) and five weddings in the fall. It was actually pretty cool to be in ‘wedding mode’ and stay in that groove. Another unique thing about this wedding year was that I got COVID when I had one more wedding to photograph for the spring season.
I had my very first ever experience having an associate photographer take over a wedding for me (which went really well, thankfully!). I also had the experience of traveling to New England to photograph a wedding, which was super cool! And finally – this year was the year of the Emilys! I photographed three brides named Emily this year!
So, all in all, 2022 had some highs and lows, but one thing remained the same: I love what I do. My couples were fantastic to work with and we got some truly beautiful, meaningful, fun images. I appreciate all 22 of you trusting me with your wedding day. I also have to give a shout out to my second photographers this year: Leah Eversley, Marek Kuniki, Melinda Toth, Samantha Hopkins, and Aisha Jackson. I’ve gotten to work with some talented folks who have been life savers at times. And I appreciate their hard work and talent.
Finally – I’m excited to share my best of 2022 weddings with you today! It was really challenging to narrow down thousands of photos to just the top 3-5 images from each wedding. But I managed to do so! Below you’ll see images I love because of the emotion they convey, the technical success, or how much I enjoyed the moment. Enjoy!
