HI, I'M RACHEL!

Today it’s all about Lisa and Claudio’s big day! They were married this past weekend at a sparkling Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding in Washington, D.C. They had such a beautiful day and I’m excited to show and tell you all about it!
I’m sure you remember Lisa and Claudio from their LDW engagement session last year, which also took place in Georgetown. It was fun seeing these two again at their sparkling Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding! First, I met up with Lisa in the bridal suite. She had all kinds of goodies waiting for me there: a gift bag for me and Milli (how thoughtful is that?!); a spread of beautiful flat-lay styling pieces; a vase of loose flowers. Heaven! She even had a white poster board to do the flat lay on plus a tiny veil for me to use for the flat lays – even though she wasn’t wearing a veil! The most prepared bride there ever was! haha
One of my favorite parts of every wedding day is the moment when I get to see the dress (I don’t think I’m unique there!). Before I get there, I try to guess what style and silhouette the bride has chosen. And I am always wrong! haha But that is part of the fun because I like to be surprised. When I saw Lisa’s dress I was a mix of surprised, delighted, excited, and speechless! Like downright giddy! Lisa chose a glittery silver sparkling mermaid gown. Just wait until you see it! It was so different, and so uniquely her – I was thrilled to get to photograph such a stunning dress on such a beautiful bride!
Lisa and Claudio decided to do a first-look, which you know I love! It was especially handy on this particular day because of the weather. We did the first look before the ceremony and then had the chance to do portraits. It was barely drizzling and then stopped drizzling altogether, so we took advantage and got lots of portraits! That was lucky because after the ceremony it drizzled and then full-on rained the whole time.
Lisa and Claudio had originally decided to have their ceremony at the DC War Memorial, and when they saw the forecast for the day + the plans for a protest/march in the area, they decided to move the ceremony to the Ritz. They still wanted portraits at the memorial, so they had a bus take their family, wedding party, and us photographers there and back. So we still got beautiful natural light portraits at classic DC locations, even in the rain!
One of my favorite parts of Lisa and Claudio’s sparkling Ritz Carlton Georgetown wedding day took place during their ceremony. Lisa had let me know beforehand that she had written her vows in Portuguese and planned to read them during the ceremony as a surprise to Claudio (who is from Brazil) and his family. It was so fun to see the look of delight on everyone’s faces when she began reading her vows in Portuguese! You’ll see Claudio’s smile in the photos below, plus I noticed his mom give a nod of approval as Lisa said her vows. The funniest part was when she used the English word ‘hangry’, which everyone recognized, and said, “some words don’t have a translation!”
Congratulations and best wishes to Lisa and Claudio!! And have so much fun on your Italian honeymoon!
Much appreciation goes out to all of Lisa and Claudio’s vendors for helping create a beautiful day for the newlyweds:
Special Shoutout – the Ritz Carlton Georgetown has been such a pleasure to work with! I’ve worked there twice now and they take spectacular care of not only their couples, but the vendors as well. When Lisa and Claudio decided to move the ceremony to the Ritz, they were super helpful in making plans and even set everything up for them, including all their flowers. It’s not always the case that the venue is so helpful, hands-on, proactive, and considerate of both the couple and the vendors, so I just wanted to give them special acknowledgement.
