HI, I'M RACHEL!

I’ve been happily sharing new-t0-me locations recently here on the blog. And while this isn’t a new location, National Mall maternity photos are new!
I ask my new clients if there are any sessions of mine that stand out to them. It helps me get a feel for what they’re looking for, as far as location, etc. Melissa and Rich said many of the sessions along the National Mall – especially at the Lincoln Memorial – appealed to them. They also mentioned they wanted to include beautiful nature and dramatic backgrounds in their photos. So of course, I knew National Mall maternity photos was the way to go for these two expecting love birds.
As we started our session at the Lincoln Memorial it occurred to me that I had never taken maternity photos there before! I don’t think I’ve ever done them on the Mall at all! That had me extra excited to take Melissa and Rich’s maternity photos.
When you book a 90 minute session with me, you get to choose one location with a secondary location within walking distance. The Lincoln Memorial is literally the location I made up this rule for! When at the Lincoln, there are so many other picturesque areas within walking distance. I can certainly spend an entire 90 minutes at the Lincoln! But if clients want a little extra something – like nature or water or more history, we can take a short walk to include another beautiful spot.
Melissa and Rich wanted to including nature as background for their National Mall Maternity photos. Constitution Gardens is a short walk from the Lincoln, so that was a good option for us. As we walked over we saw one of the huge willow trees had been knocked over! The tree I always used for portraits was gone. I literally could’ve cried! We had recently had a big wind storm and I think it was knocked over by the strong gusts. Seeing a beautiful, thriving tree laying dead on the ground was crushing. (I really love tress, y’all!) We made use of some of the other gorgeous willows, thank goodness! And honestly, with how cute these two are together, we couldn’t go wrong with any location!
