HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I’m excited to share Julia and Michael’s Chevy Chase, Maryland, emerald and ivory Woodend Sanctuary wedding photos with you today!
Third Time’s the Charm
You probably remember Julia and Michael, as you’ve seen them on the blog twice now. First, with their Georgetown engagement session and again last September for their micro wedding on their original wedding date. Julia and Michael are part of an elite club of REHP Love Birds who I’ve had the honor of working with three times to celebrate their engagement and wedding. Julia and Michael renewed their vows this past weekend at their emerald and ivory Woodend Sanctuary wedding and I was excited to capture their special memories for them a third time!
Tie-In
This year Julia got ready in the same hotel room where she got ready last year, so that was a fun tie-in! This year, in addition to the bustling energy of the hair and makeup artists, her mom, and her sister, Julia was also accompanied by her three other bridesmaids! Everyone was so positive and encouraging and it was such a fun space to be in with familiar faces and new ones!
Tying the Knot
Julia and Michael got the extra added luck this time around, with rain on their emerald and ivory Woodend Sanctuary wedding day! They say rain on your wedding day is good luck because a wet knot is tighter than a dry one (you know, the whole ‘tying the knot’ thing). Well, if that’s the case, Julia and Michael’s wedding knot is super secure because it was very rainy the day of their wedding! So much so that they moved their ceremony into the tent and we didn’t get to take any outdoor photos on the grounds of their beautiful venue. Luckily there was a covered portico, so we were able to pop outside for some natural light photos with some greenery in the frame, and still be protected from the rain. The venue is absolutely stunning inside and out, so we really couldn’t go wrong with anywhere we chose to shoot!
Woodend Sanctuary Wedding
Speaking of a stunning venue, Julia and Michael made some other wonderful choices as far as their decor. The florals by Flowers at 38 were stunning and lush, and just enhanced the already beautiful venue. And my personal fav were the varied linens! The different patterns and colors and textures really elevated the style of their emerald and ivory Woodend Sanctuary wedding, and everything was so fun to take pictures of!
Vow Renewal
Since Julia and Michael officially said ‘I do’ last September, this celebration was technically a vow renewal. Their ceremony was performed by Michaels cousin, who kept it short and sweet as the couple requested. It was the perfect mix of humorous, sentimental, and like I said, short! haha My favorite part of the entire day (besides all the gorgeous decor and feeling like I was at more of a reunion with their family after getting to know them last year!) was the toasts portion of their reception. I love toasts in general because they help give a little background info to who the bride(s) and groom(s) are as individuals and bridges the gap to how they found each other and fell in love. It’s always a treat to hear that from people who know and love the couple. Michael’s best man and Julia’s sister did a wonderful job – they had the whole tent laughing and ‘awww’ing.
Congratulations and best wishes to Julia and Michael – again! And even though they joked about not doing this a third time, I hope we get to see each other again in the future for another happy occasion!
Aww! Look at how she’s looking at him! I just love this shot from the angle of my second photographer!
Could not get over that veil!
No offense to other wedding cakes, but this one was the best I’ve ever had!
