HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
I’m taking it back to late winter today with Tasha and Steven’s Constitution Gardens elopement on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
FORGOT TO REMEMBER
I was going back through some of my sessions from the spring to see which ones I wanted feature as blog posts next, and came across Tasha and Steven’s late winter Constitution Gardens elopement photos. I totally forgot to share their beautiful photos earlier this year and just had to make sure they got their time in the spotlight. These two experienced such a romantic, emotional ceremony and I adore their portraits, so here we are! Plus, Tasha and Steven were fresh in my mind after running into them at Union Station earlier this summer while photographing another client! So fun!
THE BEST LAID PLANS
Tasha and Steven had originally planned their late winter elopement to take place at the Supreme Court, which I was super excited about! We planned their session well in advance and thought we should fine to have an elopement there by mid-March. Well… that wasn’t the case. The Capitol grounds were still completely fenced off and remained that way through the spring and into the summer. We had to make other plans.
MADE IT WORK FOR US
Constitution Gardens ended up being the absolute perfect spot for Tasha and Steven’s ceremony! They wanted to showcase a bit of DC in their photos, and what better marker of DC than the Washington Monument?! We had a bright and sunny day for Tasha and Steven’s Constitution Gardens elopement and portraits, which was planned for the middle of the day (based on the schedule of the officiant and the couple’s honeymoon plans). I was a little wary of all that harsh light, but as you’ll see, it worked out just fine! I had them stand a certain way in order to mitigate too many highlights and shadows. I’m so pleased with how their photos turned out!
EMOTIONAL I DOS
Tasha and Steven’s Constitution Gardens elopement ceremony was just so perfect! Their sweet vows and the fact that they were so emotional and down right excited to be saying “I do” had me tearing up behind the camera – big time! These two are just the sweetest couple and it was beautiful to witness them promising forever to each other.
CLASSIC BRIDE AND GROOM
After the ceremony we walked over to the Lincoln for some portraits. I was excited to take portraits, especially considering how lovely these two looked in their wedding attire! Tasha’s dress was so classic and I love that she wore a veil, and Steven looked so dapper in his suit. The colors of the boutonniere just popped off that navy!
These two did such a great job in front of the camera, that I couldn’t resist a few more portraits back at Constitution Gardens before sending them on their way to their honeymoon!
