HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
Cara and Nate had one beautiful rainy spring DC War Memorial wedding and I’m excited to share some of my favorite of their photos with you today!
OUTDOOR DC WEDDING VENUE
Cara and Nate planned a beautiful wedding ceremony with their closest friends and family at the DC War Memorial, complete with Cara’s boss as their officiant. (She did such a great job, too!) They chose the DC War Memorial as their venue so they could enjoy an outdoor space with their loved ones while they said their ‘I dos’.
RAIN IS GOOD LUCK ON A WEDDING DAY
Cara and Nate wanted to feel present, happy, and relaxed on the day of their wedding… and I’m sure one thing they didn’t want or expect to feel at the end of May was freezing cold! Y’all… it was absolutely freezing the day of Cara and Nate’s rainy spring DC War Memorial wedding. To photograph their wedding, I was literally wearing the same clothes I wore all winter, complete with gloves! It was that cold.
I felt so bad that they had planned a spring wedding (the last weekend of May, when you can usually count on some warmth) and the weather didn’t cooperate (it rained the whole time, even through portraits). Luckily they were surrounded by so much love and warmth from their friends and family! I think that helped to carry them through! Plus there’s that old adage that rain on your wedding day is good luck: a wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot! And honestly, you can’t even tell how cold they were because they were both such troopers (especially Cara in her short dress!) and clearly so excited to be married!
SO EXCITED
After Cara and Nate’s rainy spring DC War Memorial wedding ceremony, we took family portraits before their families got to scoot out to attend a luncheon reception. Then it was time for these two love birds to pose for newlywed portraits – and oh my goodness, just look how cute these two are together! I would love these photos so much on a clear/dry day – but I love them even more because Cara and Nate look so genuinely happy and smitten with each other, and like I said – so excited to be married, even in the cold and rain. Now that is how you know true love!
Congratulations and best wishes again to Cara and Nate!
The literal cutest!
Also, can we please give it up for Cara’s amazing style choices, between her fun fishtail braid and gorgeous Stem & Thistle bridal bouquet?!
