HI, I'M RACHEL!
welcome!
micro WEDDINGS
elopements
It’s been so fun reliving some of the most beautiful occasions and photos from spring this week. And today I’m excited to share with you Brittany and Will’s glowing spring Alexandria elopement photos!
Will and Brittany were excited to say ‘I do’ in Alexandria, a place they have lots of happy memories. They were most looking forward to taking their wedding portraits (that’s what I love to hear!), so I was glad we got such a beautiful day for their glowing spring Alexandria elopement!
MAKING MY FAVORITES
I have to say, Brittany and Will’s glowing spring Alexandria elopement photos are some of my absolute favorite wedding portraits I’ve ever taken! I can take credit for some of the reasons why, but not all. There are so many things that go into creating beautiful photos, especially photos that I, as the photographer, love. And all those elements came together magically for Brittany and Will’s glowing spring Alexandria elopement.
The thing that always makes a photo outstanding for me is good light, which I obviously don’t have much control over. I have control over how I use light, but not about what kind of light I get. That is up to Mother Nature! The day of Brittany and Will’s wedding, we got *amazing* magic hour light. Next on the list is getting to work with a couple who trusts me to help them relax in front of the camera. Brittany and Will were so excited to get married, they were in a great mood the day of their wedding, and were pure gold in front of the camera (just check out Brittany’s smile!).
NEW TO ME
Knowing that Brittany and Will were most excited about their love bird portraits, I made sure to find some good locations for photos. I drove around before meeting up with them to scope out a few good spots within walking distance of their ceremony location. Even though I’ve worked in Old Town so much, I always like to do a drive around before a session to get a lay of the land as it is on that particular day. Different flowers and trees are always in bloom, sometimes roads or sidewalks are blocked off, light varies, etc. I found a new spot that I’m obsessed with, so I’m glad I did a little extra reconnaissance that day!
FOUR LEGGED BEST MAN
Brittany and Will’s ceremony was just the cutest! I can’t wait for you to see their ceremony photos below. Brittany was clearly so excited to say ‘I do’ and I just love her facial expressions, and both her and Will’s reaction after being pronounced husband and wife. I think my favorite moment though, the one that brought tears to my eyes, was seeing Will and Brittany greeting their dog after their first kiss. He was patiently waiting through the whole ceremony (rocking his adorable doggie tuxedo), and it was obvious all three of them were excited to get to say hi and snuggle after the ceremony.
Brittany, lady – you are one radiant bride!
I mean… how sweet is this for a family photo?!
